We are privileged to present what may be the most comprehensive private collection of paintings by Ben & Nell Shute ever offered for public sale. This estate represents 3 generations of Artists! Ben Shute, Nell Choate Shute, Keenan Shute, world renowned poet James Merrill signed books to his step sister and Mother, a Brigadier General that knew Winston Churchill and a Grandmother that designed textiles and went to China prior to the 1920’s to have them made! A truly Avant-Garde family history! This estate has it all! Some of the finest antiques, beautiful porcelain, sterling silver, stunning art on every wall and so much more! Ben Edgar Shute(1905–1986): Artist and Educator Oil & Watercolor paintings & Sculptures
Was a highly influential artist and educator based in Atlanta, Georgia.
- Legacy: He was a cofounder of the Atlanta College of Art and taught at the High Museum School of Art starting in 1928.
- Artistic Style: Known for his watercolors and oil paintings, his work often depicted Southern life, landmarks, and landscapes. Notable works include Night Carnival (1940)
James Merrill (1926–1995)Poet Signed First Edition Books
