Description & Details
First, I want to remind all dealers and those who re-sell, we must have a current (2025) copy of you tax exempt form or we will have to charge you sales tax.
Several of us who conduct estate sales have been recently questioned as to WHY we are charging sales tax when another estate sale company here ( and possibly others) are not charging tax. Two of my customers called the City and asked why some were charging and some weren't. They were told everyone was supposed to charge sales tax. The implication is that we who are collecting the tax are pocketing what we collect. Trust me - after two of us were cited about a year ago for failure to collect tax, we were audited going back three years and forced to pay - out of our own pocket - sales tax we had not collected for sales held over a 3 1/2 year period. We argued with the sales tax people showing them where on their own website it stated that yard sales and estate sales were exempt from collecting tax. One person even hired an attorney to fight it but to no avail. We were forced to pay thousands in uncollected sales tax. SO, again, we are charging tax as mandated by the City, County and State Revenue Department. We should all be operating on a level playing field but unfortunately we aren't - which in the end, always hurts those who are following the rules. Sorry for my rant - but fair is fair. NOW, to our next beautiful estate sale - to which we have to charge sales tax!
This is a beautiful home in the Grove Park community. We will have a wide assortment of antiques, beautiful smalls, rugs, a tremendous amount of sterling, local art and much more. We have begun working on the sale and listed below are a few of the many items to be offered. I will be posting pictures throughout the week.
