The Second Wife of Howard Hughes, and Close friends with Marilyn Monroe~

Gorgeous Home, Full of Amazing TREASURES!

Jean Peters Bio from Family~

Jean Peters was born in Canton Ohio, and while attending Ohia State University in 1945 she won the Miss Ohio State contest and a screen test in Hollywood.  She passed with flying colors and went on to star in19 movies with such greats as Marlon Brando and Marilyn Monroe. Her mother Lizzie  Best followed her to California and moved into the Carlsbad house at 2409 Buena Vista Circle around 1955, while Jean married Howard Hughes in 1957 until she divorced him in 1971. While Jean and Howard lived in Rancho Santa Fe, Palm Springs and the Bel Air district of Beverly Hills, Jean visited her mother often and fell in love with the Buena Vista neighborhood. Lizzie passed away around 1990 and Jean’s only sibling Jodie Cook moved into the 2409 house, and at the same time Jean bought and fully remodeled the current house on Buena Vista Circle. Jean added skylights, wood flooring etc. and expanded the home to include an apartment for assistants.  Jean moved from Beverly Hills into her new Carlsbad home until her death in 2000. Jodie then sold Lizzie’s home and moved down the street into Jean’s home, until her death in 2024.
