ABOUT THE ARTIST: Beverly Politi (b. 1931, Bronx, NY) is an American painter and printmaker whose bold, exploratory abstract and hard-edge works emerged from the vibrant Los Angeles art scene after she relocated there in 1951 with her husband, who began working at Lockheed. While raising two children and engaging in charitable work, she earned both her BFA and MFA, developing a style described as raw, daring, and reflective of the cultural shifts of the 1950s through the 1980s. Her paintings and prints have been exhibited widely in California and internationally—including shows in Seoul, Korea, and national print competitions—and her work resides in notable private collections such as those of Frank Sinatra and Michael Wilding. Politi’s legacy continues through her presence in the market, where her works have attracted steady collector interest. Recent auctions in 2025 at Billings have featured her 1960s and 1970s abstracts, with realized prices ranging from $300 to $1,800 USD, alongside a record sale of $3,175 for Untitled (Hard Edge). Over the past year, her paintings have averaged around $1,030 USD at auction, underscoring both her historical significance and continued relevance to collectors of mid-century modern art.
