The Chief Warrant Officer was also an Antarctic Explorer, Ice Patrol Pilot & Ice Water Recovery Diver and Korean War Veteran and participated in numerous US Coast Guard voyages of scientific investigation into the Arctic and Antarctica. He was aboard the USCG Vessel Polar Seas during three years of sea trials and exploratory expeditions to the Arctic Antarctic before the ship was even commissioned and was on the first voyage on an American ship which circumnavigated the globe by going north to south via the polar route . The Home contains his many personal items, photographic slides taken during his voyages, modest but useful furnishings, kitchenware and appliances, uniforms, firearms, dive gear, boat equip, memorabilia and rare photos from Antarctic Missions, Coast Guard Manuals, a huge abundance of tools shop equipment, parts, new products unopened for lighting, pumps, plumbing, irrigation, electronics, some antique chests of drawers, a shed full of giant ceramic planters, lawn statuary and pond molds, historic documents and photos from his places of service, costume jewelry, wall art and much more.
