Description & Details
This is the Estate Sale of my brother Tommy MIXON. Master Gardener/ landscape architect/ Artist.
Don't miss this awesome sale located in the old farm house in1924. This old home has been in the Pasley family for Generations. Known as Maggie's Orchard to our family. (Maggie Pasley) Tommy revamped the old home back in the 1980's. My mother ( Martha Jewel Pasley) owned Maggie's & gave it to my brother. I know Granny Jewel Pasley & Mama used to visit Maggie. I also know that when the old Pasley Hotel Burned down- the salvaged furniture & other items went to Maggie's orchard for storage. (They Pasley hotel was next to the Post Office ( old Thomaston Florist-then it became the funeral home)
The house and the 3 acres of land was an artists dream come true. With several turn of the century Barns Still on the property) At that Ms. Maggie was gone & there was an old man & a bunch of goats living in the house! ( they were safely relocated) I remember the remodel being a family project-grab a paint brush & get to work! The old pine floors had hoof marks from all the goats-this only made it more charming!
A great deal of antiques are family pieces from the Pasley family..(Jewel Barron Pasley/Charles Pasley my grand-parents) & Great Uncle William Pasley/ & great great Grand-parents Charles & Leona Pasley & The Old Pasley Hotel. Some of the primitive antiques were still in the house & belonged to Maggie Pasley. Uncle William was one of Grandaddys three brothers.
Tommy ended up with many generational antiques when he inherited Uncle Bill's Estate. Great great Uncle William Pasley (aka Uncle Bill) was a wealthy sophisticated man who liked the finer things in life. He hobnobbed with many celebrities like Mitzi Gaynor & others/ had front row seats to Broadway musicals. He was in advertising/marketing and spent an extensive amount of time in Hollywood/Beverly Hills. Uncle Bill was a world traveler and took Tommy on many of his trips along with my brother David.
Our Colorful Uncle Bill visited often! So this is just not Tommy's sale there's several Generations of trinkets/furniture. You'll also find some items that belonged to his late wife Frances, who loved everything Golf- especially anything having to do with the Masters Golf Tournament!
You'll find signed Tiffany vase, Tiffany light fixtures, Sterling silver & so many other treasures! Pottery, plants, statuary primitive furniture, Early mahogany furnishings, A pottery Kiln, Tommy's original artwork, rugs, kitchen items, jelly cabinet & more!
More info & lots of pics to post! You don't want to miss this fabulous sale!
I've included an article on Tommy and his Gardens from the Atlanta Journal. He also appeared on Several episodes on PBS show The Victory Garden
