When it comes to car enthusiasts, there are few words that get people more excited than “performance wagon”. The B6 Audi S4 Avant is the embodiment of a fun-to-drive wagon and thanks to some significant modifications, this example is as good to look at as it is from behind the wheel. Produced between 2003 and 2005, the B6 generation was the first S4 powered by a V8 paired and propelled by Quattro all-wheel-drive. This Audi S4 Avant has been very nicely kept from new and shows 123,450 miles at the time of cataloging.

Built in February of 2004, this S4 Avant is finished in Audi's signature color of Nogaro Blue which is complimented by a rare black leather and Nogaro blue Alcantara interior. It doesn't take an expert to see that this car has been modified- sitting on the ground, this S4 has been fitted with a full Accuair airbag suspension that offers excellent handling and a smooth ride. The installer of this system really knew what they were doing- sitting under the floor of the rear hatch is a pair of Nogaro Blue air tanks and dual compressors on display under a plexiglass window, which can be covered up if you're planning on doing some hauling.

The inside of this car is particularly exciting- with the centers of both front and rear seats covered in bright Nogaro Blue Alcantara. This was a rare factory option and, although it was polarizing in the day, now it makes the car so much cooler and far more unique than the alternative standard black leather. The shift knob has been swapped out for a blue perforated leather-wrapped ball that matches the inserts and offers a much more positive shift feel than what came on the car from the factory. Up front, a wired Accuair controller sits right in the center console, and, in place of the ashtray, a red LED screen shows the airbag pressure at all four corners. Audi is a company that has always made fantastic interiors and that found in the B6 S4 is no exception. It is very simple but the stainless trim plays off the black and blue tones well and the center stack with a screen for navigation still looks up to date.

Under the hood of the S4 is a brilliant all-aluminum 4.2-liter V8 with dual overhead camshafts and a variable-length intake manifold. Producing 339 horsepower and 302 lb-ft of torque, the car was almost as powerful as the outgoing RS4 and allowed the S4 Avant to do the 0-60 run in just 5.8 seconds. When new, the S4 was available with either a ZF 6-speed automatic or a delightfully notchy 6-speed Getrag manual transmission- which this car is equipped with. And as with all great Audis, power is sent to all four wheels through the use of Quattro's permanent four-wheel-drive system. The S4 has always been praised as one of the greatest do-anything cars on the road- plenty fast and fun when the opportunity presents itself, but also exceptionally capable in bad weather or on rough gravel roads.

Audi only produced the B6 S4 Avant for two years and the number of cars with this amazing color combination is extremely low. Even without all the modifications, this would be a perfect car to take to any Audi meet and get people's attention, but when you factor in all the modifications and its outstanding overall condition, this is a truly unique car.
