Description & Details

Woodard Lipe Winter Art Auction:

Saturday February 28th, 11 am. 1304 Ashby Rd. 63132, Doors open at 10am

Preview Friday February 27th 12-5pm, 1304 Ashby.

The Woodard Lipe Winter Auction presents a distinguished group of twentieth and twenty first century works spanning modernism, pop art, conceptual sculpture, and contemporary printmaking representing various St. Louis estates and collections. Highlights include a framed collagraph by Peter Marcus, reflecting his innovative approach that bridges painting, printmaking, and drawing, alongside a dramatic signed lithograph from the Carmen Suite by Salvador Dali. A bold screenprint celebrating the reopening of Lincoln Center by Guillermo Kuitca underscores the auctions international scope, while a deluxe limited edition book and original pastel by David Nash highlight the intersection of sculpture, landscape, and print.

Modern and postwar innovation continues with a striking mercury and acrylic sculpture by Ronald Mallory, an expressive cityscape oil by Italo George Botti, and a mixed media portfolio work by Raymond Saunders from America The Third Century. Exhibition graphics are represented by a Vallauris poster after Pablo Picasso, capturing the vitality of his ceramic period, while a vibrant pop composition by Peter Max reflects enduring patriotic themes. Decorative and sculptural arts are further elevated by a pate de verre vase from Daum and a dimensional plexiglass Raumobjekt by Marie Luise Heller, exemplifying late twentieth century optical experimentation.
