Featured items include a rare 3pc Aesthetic inlaid bedroom suite, a walnut Eastlake/Aesthetic 3pc inlaid bedroom suite, Mid-Century Modern pieces, antique furniture, and 20th-century Chinese archaic pottery, bronzes, and art.
A highlight of this auction is a collection of artwork by Rosti and Jeani Eismont, including oils, watercolors, abstracts, constructions, and scenic works.
Rosti was born in Austria and came to the U.S. as a displaced person (DP) in 1950 after time in a British refugee camp. He received a full scholarship to study art and design at Art Center School in Los Angeles, and later studied painting, design, and typography at the School of Visual Arts in NYC. In 1972, he was awarded a Louis Comfort Tiffany Grant for Ceramics to apprentice with John Glick’s Plum Tree Pottery, followed by three years as a resident artist at Penland School in NC.
Rosti worked as an art director/designer for Holiday, Essence, Harper's Weekly, Horizon, and Studio Potter magazines. His work is in private collections in the U.S. and Europe. He received a purchase award from the International Academy of Ceramics (Geneva), traveled on the Concorde SST to London for Chief Executive magazine, and collaborated with Ansel Adams in Carmel, CA. In 1976, he designed the format/logo for the Boston Phoenix. He founded Red Mill Pottery in Peekskill, NY in 1979 and has focused on wood-fired ceramics and painting for the past 25 years.
Jeani Eismont worked as an art director, colorist for Marvel Comics, and watercolorist. She studied at Pratt Institute and Maryland Institute of Art.
