This is a 1924 Steinway D that belong to a famous Harlem jazz pianist from the 1920s through the 1950s by the name of Hazel Scott. She was the wife of Adam Clayton Powell Junior and she used this as her personal Steinway that she took onto her all over the country for her entire career you can see her perform with Bing Crosby and Bob Hope and a lot of movies in the 1940s as she was very famous for playing two pianos at the same time but this one is the one that she preferred to use her entire life It was purchased at auction ago after she died and was fully restored three years ago by Linda Blad pianos so completely rebuilt, new strings. The soundboard is intact and has a very rich sound for the size of course of the Steinway D.
