Terms & Conditions

By registering to bid in a TC Art Auction on Live Auctioneers, you hereby agree to enter into and be bound by and comply with TC Art Auction terms and agreements as described herein.

Your Bid represents your binding offer to purchase. Any bid you submit may be the winning bid for a particular lot, and constitutes your offer to buy the lot for the amount of your bid plus any buyers premium, shipping, or other charges associated with the lot. If your bid is the winning bid, you become contractually bound to buy the lot in accordance with that bid and the terms as outlined herein.

We conduct timed auctions, which allows you to participate in and watch the bidding in real time online. You can also place your maximum online bid and even use the ?Buy Now?? function as soon as our preview of the auction is published in advance of the real time online auction. We encourage you to place your maximum advance bids before the auction begins, so you do not miss the opportunity to purchase the item you have your eye on if you are unable to participate at the time of the auction. You can purchase the artwork at any time using the ?Buy Now" option, which is often less than the high estimated value of the artwork.

As a condition of bidding in an auction or sale of one or more lots, you may be required to provide proof of your identity with a government issued id and register a valid credit card number to Live Auctioneers or their payment processor. If your bid is a winning bid, you agree to pay the purchase price, which includes your winning bid, the buyer?s premium, shipping charges, and any incidental buyer costs. Your credit card will be charged immediately upon winning a lot from the auction.

We list estimated low and high values for each artwork we offer. These values reflect the current market value of the work of art offered. The winning bid may be higher, within, or lower than the estimated values we have listed. The estimated values do not include the buyer's premium, any applicable shipping, storage, or incidental charges you may incur. We make no guarantees of any kind about the performance of the lot should you choose to resell it.

We display images of the artwork lot and text that describes it. Any description of a lot?s dimensions and weights is approximate. Images of a lot may not show the condition of a lot clearly; colors and shades may look different on the screen as opposed to how they look in person. We do our best to describe each artwork?s condition and specifics in as detailed a manner as we can. Statements made by us with respect to a lot whether in a condition report, a catalogue or on our auction platform, presented orally or in writing, are intended as statements of opinion only, are not to be relied upon as statements of fact and do not constitute representations or warranties of any kind. We do not warrant, and we specifically disclaim, the condition of any frame that accompanies any lot. If you have questions about any lot, you can contact us before bidding on it to satisfy your due diligence.

All Sales Are Final. You are responsible for doing your own due diligence to satisfy yourself about any aspects concerning the lot on which you bid. By bidding on a lot, you represent, warrant and covenant that you have determined that all aspects meet your satisfaction and that you have no objections with any aspect of the lot on which you bid. All sales are final, without exception.

Live Auctioneers has its own terms and conditions for its auction platform, and we encourage you to familiarize yourself with Live Auctioneers? terms and conditions, as TC Art Auctions assumes no liability for any damages, financial or consequential, from your use or your inability to use the Live Auctioneers bidding platform.

Description & Details

Landfall Press is widely known as the first institutional print shop in America. Master Printer Jack Lemon, who had assisted Thomas Hart Benton, started the press at the Kansas City Art Institute. He then moved Landfall to Chicago, where it established itself as one of the top presses in history. Later, Lemon moved the press to Santa Fe, where he continued helping artists achieve their dreams in printmaking, until last year. Jack Lemon is now 90, and as asked our organization to oversee the sale of his archive and remaining print inventory. We've opened a Landfall Press Print Center, where scholars and curators can come study Landfall's legacy. We are honored to offer you some of the finest prints ever created anywhere, in this auction. The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Museum of Modern Art, Smithsonian, Art Institute of Chicago, and too many other major museums to mention here all proudly hold Landfall prints in their collections. Landfall was the first to publish lithographs by Kara Walker and Chuck Close. Landfall was the first to help Christo and Jean Claude make lithographs that included "wrapped" objects in relief in the print. Landfall published the major Chicago Imagists. Luis Jimenez treasured the prints he created at Landfall, and Judy Chicago made her finest lithographs at Landfall. Artists like Nick Cave, William Wiley, HC Westermann, and many more worked with Landfall on their prints. Don't miss the opportunity to collect art historically important prints from one of the most innovative and beloved print publishers of all time.
