Born in Buffalo, Bill attended Nichols School and graduated from Kimball Union Academy in Meriden, NH in 1955 where he was the captain of the ice hockey team. After a stint in the US Army, he returned to Buffalo to join SM Flickinger, Inc., the family food wholesaling and distribution company. Bill loved his home and meticulously cared for gardens.
