"The Paolucci home was always filled with music, art, laughter, beauty, a love of travel and pride in our Italian heritage.”
Bridget Paolucci was a lecturer, writer and broadcaster who specialized in opera. For many years, she was heard as an intermission speaker on the Texaco Metropolitan Opera international radio broadcasts. She worked extensively for the Metropolitan Opera Guild, giving numerous pre-performances lectures each season, and as an interviewer of leading singers and directors. She also gave pre- performance lectures at New York City Opera, Carnegie Hall, lectured throughout Westchester and Connecticut, and at multiple other venues. She was a writer for American Record Guide, a contributing editor to The Metropolitan Opera Guide to Recorded Opera, and the author of a biography of Beverly Sills, written for pre-teens. An interviewer for the Canadian Broadcasting Company and the Australian Broadcasting Company, and a music reporter for NPR, she interviewed luminaries such as Luciano Pavarotti, Franco Zeffirelli, Renee Fleming, Bryn Terfel, Renata Tebaldi, Beverly Sills, Vivian Leigh, Arthur Miller, Barbara Streisand and Kurt Vonnegut. In her early career, she was a founding producer for educational television stations in Detroit and New York.
Bert Paolucci was the youngest of 9 siblings, growing up in Ardsley, NY during the Great Depression. He received a bachelor’s degree from Columbia and an MBA from Harvard. Bert went on to serve in the U.S. Navy as a Lieutenant aboard several aircraft carriers during the Korean War. On his return to civilian life, Bert worked for Time Inc. as a business manager for the Production Department. He left to start his own consulting firm, B. Paolucci Inc. and worked with clients that included CBS Publications, ABC Magazines, Children’s Television Workshop, Corporation for Public Broadcasting, and others. He loved tennis, golf, boating, music and was a great artist. He was well known for his talents as a caregiver and possession of an incredible sense of humor.
