Artist Ann Wilson Estate - Main Street Valatie - A Collectors Dream!

Sale includes the contents of the estate of American painter, professor and multidisciplinary artist Ann Wilson. She was the last surviving member of New York’s influential Coenties Slip Group in the 1950s and early ’60s, which included Robert Indiana, Ellsworth Kelly, Agnes Martin, James Rosenquist, and Lenore Tawney. She was known for painting on the surfaces of quilts, and later made performance pieces. Her work is held in the collections of the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Museum of Arts and Design, New York; the Institute of Contemporary Art, Philadelphia, and the Kunstmuseum Luzerne.

Featured in this sale are the many eclectic items from her world travels and her personal collections including Asian Buddhist Hindu art, sculpture and furniture; African art; South American pottery and art; loads of jewelry; many antique rugs and antique textiles including dozens of antique quilts; loads of books throughout the home including many art books; a studio full of a lifetime of art supplies, easels, metal artist flat file, antique drafting table, many frames, blank canvases and art paper; antique pierced tin pie safe and a loaded kitchen with many blue and white pottery, china sets, hand made pottery and so much more!
