The bank was originally patented in 1885 by Juleus Mueller, with manufacturing rights assigned to Charles and Walter Shepard. To operate the bank, a coin is placed in a small trough on the left, and a lever is pulled. 

This lot features a J.M.R. Hubley No. 82 cast iron “Thrifty Wise Pig” piggy bank that measures, 6.5” H.
