Bobby and Shirley Trimble were long-time Midlanders, but many know them as the founders of Christmas in April, later Christmas in Action, which grew from small volunteering projects in our community into a nation-wide movement with over 250 affiliates across the nation. Bobby was presented with the Volunteer Action Award by President Ronald Reagan in 1982, and he was invited back to the White House in 1988 to present President Reagan with the first Ronald Reagan Award for Volunteer Excellence. He and Shirley loved the Lord and showed His love through tireless work for over 45 years caring for others in need of a safe, dry, comfortable home.
