Henry Farrer (1844-1903) was a British-born American artist and etcher. He was known for moody, atmospheric landscapes and maritime scenes. He played a major role in the American Etching Revival of the 1870s–1880s and was co-founder of the New York Etching Club. His prints often focused on quiet nature scenes, wetlands, harbors, and lighthouses, using subtle tonal ranges—this piece is a textbook example.
