Items of Value, Inc
Description & Details
This is the first sale of 2026 in our 2,500sqft showroom, which is part of our 4,400sqft warehouse in Temple Hills. For those of you who have not visited our showroom yet, know that this is where we display and offer for sale items that are consigned to us, either because the clients have too few items for sale to warrant an estate sale or because they cannot have an estate sale where they live. We offer the "higher end" items here, so you will not find kitchen items, tools, or patio sets here, but you will find fine artwork, furniture, china, crystal, rugs, collectibles, as well as a growing offering of DVDs, CDs, and books.
For this sale we have set up a third showcase because this time we are adding a good selection of sterling silver in the way of antique mustard pots, flatware, and jewelry. This past week we listed three sterling flatware sets on ebay along with a fine antique sterling sugar sifter and antique sterling (Britannia standard) repousse card case. We have brought in a fine reproduction French armoire that can also be used to conceal a large flat screen TV.
We also brought in pair of antique tiger maple holecaned side chairs and set them around a diminutive double dropleaf table, then added another pair of antique tiger maple holecaned side chairs from another client, then set the table top with vintage china, blue glass goblets and vintage flatware. To finish it off, we put a tomato red teapot, sugar bowl, and creamer in the center. The antique table has an apron drawer, two leaves with curved corners, and is nice small size so that it can also be put along a wall with the leaves down. It is 28-1/2"hx 35" square -- a rarity in good condition.
Hanging on the wall over the third showcase that we just set up in our entry room, note the VERY FINE handpainted vellum music manuscript, consisting of 8 staves, matted and set into a bright goldtone Baroque-style frame. Do your price research before you come. A major part of the value is the frame, not just the vellum.
Another recent consignment is a mid-19th century handpainted tilt-top table featuring bouquet of flowers on the top, also more handpainted ornamentation down the center post and on the three legs. We decided to display this table on top of a vintage Afghan red/black carpet. Look at the other handwoven rugs we have set out. For those of you interested in WWII European history, we have a partial set of whittled pine chess playing pieces, reportedly found after the liberation of a concentration camp in Poland. We are still getting WWII items from clients for sale.
This will be your last chance to acquire winter-theme items before we send them to auction. They include a European-style sled ("luge"), a refinished antique child seat sled in fine condition, and several framed prints of snow scenes. One is of Annapolis harbor, signed by the artist. Last but not least of the winter items is the window frame with panes of handpainted snowman waving through the window. We will be discounting the Asian rosewood and teak furniture items 30%. We will also be discounting the framed artwork that we have had for two months 30%. If you have been eyeing them, this weekend is your chance to buy.
Our intention is to hold a sale at our showroom at least once a month if not more often. This is driven in part by the quantity of items that are consigned to us, either delivered to us or that we pick up. So, come for a good time.
