A beautiful antique two-section Japanese Mizuya Tansu, a kitchen or tea room chest, with hand forged iron hardware. In two sections, the upper portion has two sets of sliding doors with storage space behind each, and five side-by-side drawers along the lower part. The bottom section has 2 sliding doors with spacious storage with shelving behind. The top cabinet measures 74”W x 20-1/4”D x 39”H and the lower cabinet measures 74”W x 20-1/4”D x 28”H. Likely Meiji Period: (1880-1900). These chests are also known as daidokoro todana (kitchen shelves).
