Up for bid is an outstanding original signed watercolor with embroidered landscape embellishments of Presque Isle with a wonderful hidden detail — the airship Graf Zeppelin passing overhead in the sky. Several members of the Heart staff were on the Zeppelin. Signed by the artist, Ruth Elletson.
Equal parts charm and historical. This is one of one and was beautifully recounted not by photograph, but by watercolor and extraordinary creativity. If you have any photos of this 1929 crossing, please let me know. I’ve never been able to locate them. Good grief this is one of the best local folk art pieces I’ve ever come across and I’ve seen a lot over the years. Thankfully it was captured by Ruth!

Welcome to the first annual 814 auction, ending on 8/14. What better way to start off this series of auctions from this lifetime collection than to showcase the Gem City. Everything in this particular auction has ties to the 814, some obvious, some you’ll have to research. Part history lesson, part competition..this is a reminder of how historic our city is.
This is the first in a series of several online auctions over the next few months-all from a beautiful beach house along Lake Erie from a lifetime collector. You can look forward to future online auctions featuring vintage movie, war and circus posters, vinyl, Star Wars, Superman, comic books, vintage toys, rock and roll memorabilia, sports memorabilia, baseball cards, rock and much more-there are likely a number of items that will be going to a major auction house that we partner with (more to come on that).
