You are probably wondering why Batman related collectibles are showing up in this auction. According to comic lore, Bruce Wayne is a descendant of the legendary and fierce Revolutionary War general, "Mad" Anthony Wayne who died in Erie in 1796.
This original comic book art from "The Brave and the Bold" by legendary illustrator, Neal Adams, featuring Batman and The Creeper, marked with Comics Code Authority approval stamp dated June 1968 is a significant piece of Silver Age DC Comics original art. The reference to The Creeper as a Madman is a nice little touch and nod to "Mad" Anthony Wayne. Adams is credited with bringing out the darker side of Batman, eventually making way for The Dark Knight, one of the greatest action movies of all time in my opinion.

Welcome to the first annual 814 auction, ending on 8/14. What better way to start off this series of auctions from this lifetime collection than to showcase the Gem City. Everything in this particular auction has ties to the 814, some obvious, some you’ll have to research. Part history lesson, part competition..this is a reminder of how historic our city is.
This is the first in a series of several online auctions over the next few months-all from a beautiful beach house along Lake Erie from a lifetime collector. You can look forward to future online auctions featuring vintage movie, war and circus posters, vinyl, Star Wars, Superman, comic books, vintage toys, rock and roll memorabilia, sports memorabilia, baseball cards, rock and much more-there are likely a number of items that will be going to a major auction house that we partner with (more to come on that).
